How we help employers...

  • We work closely with candidates to assess their job preferences and skill sets. This ensures that we match you with a jobseeker who is well-prepared and motivated to meet your business needs.

  • We identify any skill gaps and provide access to free training for the jobseeker, meaning you’ll get an employee who is not only ready to work but equipped with relevant skills.

  • We create a step-by-step employment plan tailored to each candidate. This ensures they are job-ready and aligned with your company’s needs before they even start.

  • Our professional job-matching service works to connect you with the right candidate—someone whose skills and experience fit your specific requirements, reducing the time and effort spent on recruitment.

  • Our service doesn’t stop once the candidate starts working. We provide ongoing coaching and support to help the employee adjust to their role, ensuring they integrate smoothly into your team.

  • We offer follow-up support through regular job reviews to make sure the placement is working well for both you and the employee. This proactive approach reduces turnover and increases job satisfaction.

  • We continue to assist the employee as they progress in their role, providing confidence-building support and mentorship. This commitment helps foster loyalty and long-term stability within your workforce.

FAQs

  • What is Turas Nua Employability?

The Employability Service helps people who have a disability, injury, or illness find and keep a job. We offer lots of support to both jobseekers and employers. Our Job Coaches work with jobseekers to make sure everyone’s needs are met.

This service is run by local organisations on behalf of the Department of Social Protection (DSP). Turas Nua provides the Employability Service in Kildare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Waterford, and Westmeath. If you need support in these areas, Turas Nua is here to help with advice and guidance to find the right people for your vacancies.

  • Who is eligible for Employability?

To use the Employability Service, jobseekers need to be between 18 and 65 years old, ready to work, and need support finding and keeping a job.

Being "job ready" means they have the training, education, motivation, and ability to work. We are here to help people build their confidence, improve their skills, and find the job that's right for them.

  • How does Employability help employers?

    • Ongoing Support: Continuous assistance for both you and the employee throughout their employment.
    • Job Matching: We find candidates whose skills and experience match your business needs.
    • Expert Advice: Guidance on employment supports, benefits, and government schemes.

    Benefits of a Job Coach:

    • Helps candidates prepare for your role and supports them post-hire.
    • Ensures a strong skills match for your job.
    • Provides ongoing guidance for smooth integration into the workplace.

This service makes recruitment easier and increases employee retention by offering well-prepared, supported candidates.

  • How are candidates selected?

We carefully assess each candidate’s educational background, work experience, and transferable skills. Our process ensures we understand their employment history and abilities in detail.

When an employer is hiring for a specific role, we use this information to job match candidates, selecting those whose skills and experience best fit the role. We then forward the most suitable candidates' CVs to the employer for consideration.

Additionally, we offer employers the option of a job trial—a short period of work experience at no cost. This allows both the employer and candidate to assess if the role is a good fit, ensuring a smooth recruitment process. This approach has proven highly effective in matching the right candidate to the right job.

  • Will my insurance costs increase if I hire a person with a disability?

No, your insurance costs will not increase.

According to the Irish Insurance Federation, an employer’s liability insurance remains the same when hiring a person with a disability, provided the employee is trained and understands the tasks involved in their role.

Employers can obtain insurance at normal rates, just as they would for any other employee, ensuring that there are no additional costs associated with creating an inclusive workplace.

  • How will my existing staff react to hiring a person with a disability?

Employees with disabilities generally want to be treated like any other staff member. Based on feedback from employers already working with us, hiring a person with a disability has often led to a positive impact on staff morale. Inclusive hiring practices can foster a more supportive and engaged workplace, where employees feel proud to be part of a diverse and welcoming team.

Many employers report that having a diverse workforce boosts collaboration, productivity, and overall job satisfaction among their staff.

  • Will there be extra costs?

Usually not. Many people with disabilities don't need special adaptations, and if they do, there are grants available to help cover those costs, making it affordable for employers to provide necessary accommodations.

  • What if it’s not working out?

If any recruitment isn't going as planned, we will work with you to explore and implement solutions, including additional support or, if necessary, termination of the contract in line with employment terms and conditions.

We’re here to ensure that both you and the employee are supported every step of the way.
